Higher frequency phenomena in the normal ballistocardiogram.

چکیده
Physiologic higher frequency phenomena ma.y be demonstrated in ballistocaidiograms from normal subjects. These phenomena consist of notches or multiple oscillations ontheH-I and K-L segments of the tracings. They may be demonstrated by recording the unfiltered output of an electromagnetic direct-body ballistocardiograph. They become more prominent as the transducer is applied closer to the source of cardiovascular forces, or by passing the output of the transducer through a band pass filter. The time relationship of these oscillations to simultaneously recorded heart sounds suggests their association with the ballistics of the closing heart valves.

Wide frequency range force ballistocardiogram; its correlation with cardiovascular dynamics.
The ballistocardiograms of young normal subjects as recorded with a wide frequency range technic are described. These records contain high frequency forces not previously described. An analysis of these components in terms of known cardiovascular events strongly suggests that they have definite dynamic significance. In addition, these correlations offer evidence as to the genesis of some forces...
متن کاملAn empiric approach to the interpretation of the low frequency, critically damped ballistocardiogram.
For the first time, the range of variation in amplitude and temporal relationships of the first four waves of the critically damped ballistocardiogram are presented for two groups of normal subjects. Characteristic deviations from this range are described in patients with vertical hearts, essential hypertension, coarctation of the aorta and aortic insufficiency. The relationship of the cardiac ...
متن کاملCorrelation of ballistocardiogram with work performance and energy cost for guidance in rehabilitation of cardiac patients.
Correlative studies of the resting ballistocardiogram and the ability to expend energy in cardiac l)a-tients indicate that the resting ballistocardiogram may be a useful tool in evaluating the functional or work capacity of a cardiac patient for rehabilitation purposes and vocational guidance, and may serve as a screening device for finding those cardiacs, other things being equal, who possess ...
متن کاملThe Ballistocardiogram in Overweight Young Adults
The ability to record the mechanical function of the heart is the principal value of the ballistocardiogram. In young healthy individuals the ballistocardiogram is consistently normal. Since overweight is apparently an important factor in the development of degenerative heart diseases, a study was undertaken to correlate excess weight in otherwise healthy young students with their respective ba...
متن کاملThe ballistocardiogram in a free clinic.
Of 240 patients consecutively admitted to the Cardiac Clinic of the Cincinnati General Hospital, and on whom a clinical diagnosis of heart disease was ultimately established, 204 had a ballisto-cardiogram taken and either an electrocardiogram, a six-foot chest plate or both of the latter two. The ballistocardiogram was evaluated (1) in terms of abnormality of pattern and (2) in degree of deviat...
